Admissions Consultation

Rimon Jewish Primary School is consulting on its admissions arrangements for 2024/25. The consultation will run from 15 December 2022 until 25 January 2023.

The proposed changes to our admissions arrangements are:

Change 1: To change the way in which applicants can qualify for faith places by requiring faith applicants to attend Shabbat and weekday synagogue services and volunteer in Jewish communal, charitable or welfare activities within a one year period.

Change 2: To include a ranked system whereby those meeting the faith requirement by attending services and volunteering at Golders Green Synagogue (GGS) will be allocated faith places before those who meet the faith requirement at other synagogues. Those who attend 25 synagogue services will be ranked higher than those who attend 15 synagogue services.

The new ranking system that is being consulted on is as follows:

  1. 25 Shabbat services at GGS and 10 weekday services (including Friday night services) and participation in Jewish communal, charitable or welfare activities at GGS on 5 occasions between 15 January 2023 and 14 January 2024

  2. 20 Shabbat services at GGS and 5 weekday services (including Friday night services) and participation in Jewish communal, charitable or welfare activities at GGS on 5 occasions between 15 January 2023 and 14 January 2024

  3. 20 Shabbat services at GGS and participation in Jewish communal, charitable or welfare activities at any organisation on 5 occasions between 15 January 2023 and 14 January 2024

  4. 20 Shabbat services at any one synagogue and 5 weekday services (including Friday night services) and participation in Jewish communal, charitable or welfare activities at any organisation on 5 occasions between 15 January 2023 and 14 January 2024

  5. 20 Shabbat services at any one synagogue between 15 January 2023 and 14 January 2024

  6. Submission of the United Synagogue four point Certificate of Religious Practice that is currently under consultation

Change 3: To introduce a new Supplementary Information Form to reflect the above changes. Change 4: To adopt the updated 4 point Certificate of Religious Practice form provided by the United Synagogue as the final rank.

Change 5: To replace “children of teaching staff” with “children of Rimon staff” in point four of the oversubscription criteria.

  • Our Published Admission Number remains 210.

  • All other elements of our published admissions arrangements including the order of our oversubscription criteria remains the same

  • All other elements of the CRP form are not changing, including the sections on Jewish education and volunteering.

Full details of and justification for the proposed changes can be found in the“Consultation on Admissions 2024-25” (below). The proposed policy, proposed Supplementary Information Form and updated United Synagogue Certificate of Religious Practice can also be found below.
